Spin the Bottle: Loop de Loop Takes the Pour

Friday, April 24th | 2–6 PM | Portland Wine Company

If you’ve been to one of our Spin the Bottle nights, you already know the deal: we clear a little space in the tasting room, invite a winemaker we love (or have loved for a long time), and let things unfold. It’s casual, it’s a little chaotic, and it’s always delicious. No tickets, no RSVP—just good wine, good people, and a chance to connect with the humans behind the bottles.

For our next installment, we’re especially excited to welcome Julia from Loop de Loop Winery into the mix.

Julia’s not just any guest—she goes way back with Angie & Matt, which makes this one feel a bit like a reunion tour (the kind where everyone actually still likes each other). And if you haven’t had the chance to taste her wines yet, this is your moment.

Loop de Loop is rooted up on Underwood Mountain, an extinct volcano perched at the edge of the Cascades. It’s the kind of place that quietly does all the work for you—elevation, wind, and ancient volcanic soils shaping fruit with serious personality. The vineyard, Light Anthology, sits high (1,250–1,400 feet) on a steep southeast-facing slope, farmed organically with regenerative practices that let the ecosystem do its thing.

And the wines? They follow that same philosophy.

These are vintage-born, place-driven wines—fermented with native yeasts, often aged patiently on lees, and bottled without fining or filtration. Nothing rushed, nothing overworked. Julia’s approach leans more shepherd than scientist, letting each wine find its own rhythm rather than forcing it into a mold.

What that means in the glass is something pretty special: wines that feel alive. Bright, structured, a little wild around the edges—in the best possible way. Expect mineral-driven textures, aromatic layers, and that subtle, almost salty edge that hints at the mountain’s ancient past.

In short: these are not your “play-it-safe” wines. They’re thoughtful, expressive, and just off the beaten path enough to keep things interesting.

So come by, grab a glass, and hang out with us. Taste something new, ask Julia all your winemaking questions (or none at all), and settle into the beautifully unpredictable energy that makes Spin the Bottle what it is.

Free tasting. No RSVP. Just show up.
