SPIN THE BOTTLE JULY EDITION & THE LAST IPNC EVENTS

Portland Wine Co. + Guest Winemaker = Spin the Bottle! Burton bitman wines

If you haven't yet attended one of our monthly Spin the Bottle events, don't fret! We welcome Anneka Miller of Burton Bitman Wines on July 20th. Anneka will be pouring several of her wines alongside a lineup of our wines. It's a win-win...or a wine-wine, as the case may be.

From Anneka: Burton Bittman Wines, located in the Dundee Hills AVA, is a family-owned and operated winery dedicated to sustainable practices for the long term. We prioritize the needs of our local and global communities, aiming to grow grapes and make wine sustainably for generations to come. Anneka transitioned from journalism to winemaking, completed her agricultural studies in Beaune, France, in 2014, and now manages the winery while serving on the Oregon Wine Board Research Committee and farming 25 acres of vines.

GARAGELAND ROSÉ OF PINOT NOIR 2021

For those of you who have been following along, you know that Garageland is the cousin of our Love & Squalor line of fine wines. It is named in homage to all of the crafters and makers who toil over their passions behind non-descript roll-up doors in warehouse districts around the globe. Just like we do here at Portland Wine Company.

Garageland expanded into the world of rosé with this pale pink wine crafted from two youthful vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley. The Pinot noir was direct-pressed – tossed stem-and-all into our grape press – and gently squeezed. It was then fermented in tank to retain purity of fruit flavors and the crispness we all want from our summer quaffer. This year we’ve added a screw cap closure for convenience when you are at the beach or on the mountain.

Like all of our bottlings, this is a limited-production wine. We should have enough to get through the summer, but it will be fleeting. We will be offering it on tap from the cask at the tasting room. If you like pink wines as much as we do, keep your eyes open for forthcoming emails about our next vintage of “A Frayed Knot” Rosé of Gewürztraminer, the pink Rumble Can, and the top-secret grape varietal in the next Pet Matt Rosé.

NEWLY RELEASED RESERVE

bottle of Pinot Noir Reserve 2017

We are excited to release the 2017 Reserve Pinot Noir!

This wine is made out of my favorite barrels from the vintage. I love the blending process and liken it to preparing a perfectly balanced plate for dinner guests. The selection and blending process is quite rigorous because I like it that way.

This is a reserve wine, whatever that means, but the style is not the typical – bold and oaky - we have been trained to expect from the designation. These chosen barrels are the ones that show subtle promise when young, but are like a rider on the horizon and we may have to wait a while before the true shape of the wine comes into focus. I hold the wine back from release until I feel it is starting to open, but I am sure we could all wait longer to drink it.

Only 50 cases were produced and it's already going fast.

Love & Squalor 2013 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)

93 Points Editors’ Choice

100wineglass300x400.jpg

A sensational value, this is a Pinot lover's wine, beginning with the gorgeous color of a deep red/orange sunset. Cherries, chocolate, and a light touch of orange peel elevate the aromatics and inform the well-integrated midpalate. The wine lingers gracefully through an immaculate finish.
