Share & Pair for Thursday, may 22 - Sunday, may 25

The Wine: 2021 Love & Squalor Pinot Noir Reserved

This limited 102-case bottling is a blended barrel selection from Temperance Hill Vineyard in Eola-Amity AVA, Arlyn Vineyard in the Chehelam AVA and Gemini Vineyard in the Laurelwood District.

Paul Gregutt gave this wine 92 points! Here’s what he had to say:

“Held back prior to release, this is the newest and latest Reserved from Love & Squalor. Four barrels are selected for the blend, yielding a wine with a darker profile of black fruits touched with highlights of charred wood. At the core is a generous serving of black cherry fruit, balanced against proportionate acids and ripe tannins. Tasted with the winery’s regular Pinot (from 2022), this is the bigger and darker wine, a wine I’d drink over the next half decade.”

Paired Snack: Truffle Potato Chips

Once again, we sampled scores of gourmet potato chips to determine exactly the right one for this complex Pinot Noir. The umami-rich potato chips brighten the black cherry fruit flavors, while the wine’s ripe tannins provide just enough structure to complement the potato chips' satisfying crunch.

Winery Bar Food Special: Mushroom Crostini

The pairing of Oregon Pinot Noir and mushrooms prove that “what grows together, goes together.” The same soils that nurture Pinot Noir also give rise to the most flavorful mushrooms. Together, they create a combination that just feels right with each sip and bite.

A Pairing to Share at Home: Roast Chicken with Mushroom Risotto

This classic pairing has stood the test of time and is the perfect showcase for Oregon Pinot’s elegant complexity. The roasted chicken finds a perfect companion in the wine's subtle tannins, while the creamy risotto is balanced by its vibrant acidity.

If you have time, you can roast a whole chicken and serve risotto on the side, but for an easier whenever meal, get a pre-roasted chicken and try this easy recipe:

Share & Pair for Thursday, may 15 - Sunday, may 18

The Wine: 2023 Love & Squalor Chardonnay [New Release!]

Our very first Chardonnay is a love letter to Oregon’s cool-climate winemaking style—flinty, fresh, and just the right amount of wild. Fermented with native yeast and aged in neutral oak, it shows off bright white peach, lemon zest, and a whisper of wet stone. Medium acidity keeps it lively, but never sharp. Aged in barrel and stainless for balance and texture, this one’s all about quiet elegance and a clean finish. Come taste it before it disappears!

Paired Snack: Charred Scallion Dip

Our inaugural Chardonnay is the perfect match for the bold, smoky flavor of charred scallion dip. The wine’s bright fruit notes complement the dip's deep, caramelized flavors, while a whisper of wet stone provides a mineral counterpoint to the scallions' charred intensity.

Winery Bar Food Special: Pierogi Muffins

A recent culinary experiment turned us on to the deliciousness pierogi casserole (see below), which this week we’re featuring in muffin form. The casserole is layered with mashed potatoes, bacon, caramelized onions, and cheese. The wine cuts through the richness like a knife, creating an explosion of flavor while also cleansing the palate between bites.

A Pairing to Share at Home: Pierogi Casserole

When you don’t have time to roll out dumplings, this pierogi casserole is the bomb. Pro tip: Double the bacon and onions.

Share & Pair for Thursday, may 8 - Sunday, may 11

The Wine: 2024 Love & Squalor Pinot Gris [New Release!]

This week’s Share & Pair is a special one — not just because it’s Mother’s Day weekend, but also because it’s a new release! Our 2024 Pinot Gris was sourced from the Dion Vineyard in the Laurelwood District. Made by a Riesling lover, the 2024 vintage is bold with stony minerality, deep fruit flavors, and a long finish.

Paired Snack: Goat Cheese with Rosemary Crackers

Our Pinot Gris finds its soulmate in goat cheese. The wine’s mineral backbone mirrors the tanginess of the cheese, and the concentrated stone fruit balances the cheese’s acidity.

Winery Bar Food Special: Shrimp Cocktail

Treat your mom to a coastal dining experience right here in Portland with the classic pairing of Pinot Gris and seafood. Here, the wine’s fruitiness complements the shrimp’s brininess, while the acidity refreshes the palate between mouthfuls of cocktail sauce.

A Pairing to Share at Home: Pan-Seared Halibut with Lemon Butter Sauce

It’s fresh halibut season (which may or may not be part of the reason we’re featuring Pinot Gris). And when it comes to fresh halibut, simplicity is the key to bringing out the delicate flavors. This recipe is fast, easy, and delicious:
