SPIN THE BOTTLE - Guest Winemaker Monthly Event

SAUL MUTCHNICK - CHAMPIONSHIP BOTTLE

We are thrilled to be kicking off our monthly guest winemaker event with Saul Mutchnick from Championship Bottle. We will be pouring tastings, glasses, and flights of his wines along with our usual lineup of Love & Squalor. He will also have bottles to purchase.

Come meet this super fun winemaker and check out his bright, mineral-driven wines (mostly white), loosely influenced by NE Italy.

SPRING UP MARKET SAT 4/17 12-5pm

We’re having a little market in our parking lot to celebrate Spring. Saturday, APRIL 17th from 12-5pm.

It’s gonna be great weather, ya’ll! We’ve set up some tables and umbrellas for sipping on glasses of wine and invited neighbors and friends to join us. We’ll be selling wines by the glass, as well as bottles to go or to enjoy at the tables. We will also have two new releases (Garageland 2020 Rosé of Pinot Noir and Love & Squalor Gamay Noir 2019) and case discounts!

We’ll have beautifully curated gifts by Heidi West Designs, Sunbreak Handmade Goods and Rooted Remedies just in time for Mother’s Day, plants from Birds & Bees Nursery baked goods to snack on from A.Dood Baked Goods, cider from Alter Ego Cider and of course, no party would be complete without the Jackalope Wine Truck

And, for an extra $5, you'll get a 3-course, Jacobsen Salt Co. and Bee Local inspired amuse bouche menu to go with our wines.

Jacobsen Salt Retail Store is at 602 SE Salmon Street in Portland, Ore.

Spring Has Sprung

The warehouse is getting emptier and emptier. The blends in the cellar are getting closer to their bottling date. In the meantime there are plenty of opportunities to get out and taste some Love & Squalor. This Friday from 3-6pm I will be pouring at the brand new Zupan's store in Lake Grove. I look forward to surprising the crowds with the Fancy Pants Riesling and other treats.

Next month marks the 10-year anniversary of the original eastside wine spot - Noble Rot. The Rot has been my hang since they opened, long before I was a winemaker. They were the first place to put Love & Squalor on the list and the first to pour it in a flight. I got all sorts of warm fuzzies for them. The Rotten Girls plus Leather are putting together a bash that is open to the public. 11 wineries pouring, mouth-watering snacks, some live tunes. If it is even half as memorable as the first anniversary, well . . . I guess I'll remember some of it.

Hope to see you all out there this Spring.

Summer of (Oregon)Riesling

I am happy that Paul Greico's obsession with all things Riesling has spread out from it's New York home and has become a national epidemic. Here in Oregon, nine restaurants are participating in the Summer of Riesling by pouring three Rieslings by the glass all summer long, with many others restaurants highlighting Riesling as well. The following are signed up:

Bar Avignon, Portland - featuring Love & Squalor

Clyde Common, Portland

Gruner, Portland

June, Portland

Le Pigeon, Portland

Heathman Restaurant and Bar, Portland - featuring Love & Squalor

Metrovino, Portland

Ned Ludd, Portland - featuring Love & Squalor

Olympic Provisions, Portland

Love & Squalor Riesling is showing up at these fine spots and is additionally ON TAP! at Kir and St. Jack. This is a special one barrel 2010 cuvee that I created for these guys. When it's gone, it's gone.
