94 pts Love & Squalor 2019 Reserved Pinot Noir(Willamette Valley). It’s always the quiet ones. The winemaker named this wine “Reserved” because he thinks it only hints at its potential. Trust me, it is already excellent. Dark raspberry, orange peel, basil and clove aromas lead to flavors of white tea and red cherries. Lemony acidity matches with brawny tannins. Drink now–2034. Cellar Selection. —M.A. Wine Enthusiast Magazine

The 2019 Pinot Noir Reserved (FKA Fancy Pants). OK, the madras patchwork pants are still hanging on the label, but we outgrew the cheeky name. This limited 102-case bottling is a blended barrel selection from Ribbon Ridge Vineyard (in Ribbon Ridge AVA) Arlyn Vineyard in the Chehelam AVA and Gemini Vineyard in the Laurelwood District. These are all top-notch organic sites that never disappoint.

This is a reserve wine, whatever that means, but the style is not typical - bolder, more oak - that we may be accustomed to. These are barrels that show great promise when young, but are like a rider on the horizon and we may have to wait a while before the true shape of the wine comes into focus. Hence the term “Reserved.”
